Wednesday 17th March

Maybe I (Liz) was wrong about the rainbow, but the water here goes clockwise down the plug hole!
We have just had another amazing day. Today we went on a bus/boat trip to Milford Sound. We awoke to a cold morning with frost on the cars, but by 11am it was a clear blue cloudless sky and warm and sunny which lasted for the rest of the day. We had some very good photo opportunities on the 100kms bus trip to Milford Sound with a very good information commentary by Ray, the driver. This included the mirror lakes where reflections of the mountains could be seen. The road climbed to snow level where we entered the Homer tunnel, and then zigzagged down the mountainside to sea level. The scenery from the boat was just as all pictures we had seen - brilliant blue sea and sky, steep high sided mountains on either side with water cascading down the sides of them in waterfalls. As we were told that only 1 in 10 days are sunny at Milford Sound we felt we had been privileged to have experienced such a lovely day. Lots of photos were taken and we hope the attached gives you a flavour of the day.
