We spent much of yesterday travelling through the valleys to Murchison. The rivers, with their backdrop of mountains provided some fabulous views. We took a ‘scenic diversion’ for our picnic lunch up an 11 kms ‘gravel track’, which for most of the drive was at an angle of 45° hugging the mountainside and very precipitous. It finished at a picnic area at 953 metres from which it was possible to climb Mount Arthur (we didn’t!!). The views of Tasman Bay and Mount Arthur were spectacular.
This was one of the hottest days we have had and we rounded off the day with a BBQ; the Kiwis are much geared to outdoor living and most motels have had a gas BBQ available for their guests!
Sounds good
ReplyDeleteBit jealous about the bbq's, maybe it will start to get warmer here soon.
